We are looking for an inspiring and motivated who will be reporting to the Market Access and Public Affairs Head. The role leads in enhancing and protecting the corporate reputation, overseeing relevant and related communications, managing media relations, participating in managing crisis and issue communications, managing communication on key business initiatives, participating in driving internal / executive communications and aligning with the regional Communications head on communications matters to achieve business goals.

He or she has to ensure the activation of key communications initiatives of Roche; act as a gatekeeper for Roche messages both internally and externally.

The communication officer is also responsible of driving corporate initiatives and processes through effective communication with stakeholders both inside and outside the company by providing clear and consistent messaging on Roche's strategic mission, vision and progress toward stated goals.

Context and responsibilities

  • To coordinate and develop Roche’s communication strategy to ensure that Roche and its pharmaceutical products are appropriately and positively represented with our stakeholders, to support the delivery of key business messages, and drive our business goals forward.
  • To develop and drive locally- and globally-initiated programs to support key business objectives.
  • To liaise with Global and Regional communications teams to ensure sharing of best practice and embedding of key corporate initiatives.
  • To develop, maintain and ensure effective use of Roche corporate branding, in line with global communications guidelines.
  • To assist and provide advice to GM / Mgmt team on internal / external communications strategies, and to act advisor to senior leaders, project leaders and line managers to influence the effectiveness of internal / external communications
  • To use metrics to measure progress against objectives, identifying strengths and weaknesses and implement or advise on potential strategy adjustments to continually ensure the effectiveness, value and improvement of Roche communications.
  • To support HR department in implementing internal communications strategy and plans, in line with corporate communications strategy and goals.
  • To participate in developing and implementing corporate communication plans to support the business objectives.
  • To support the Market Access function in the delivery of public affairs activities.
  • Key point of contact and relationship manager between Roche and the media.
  • To act as company media point of contact or to support others in that role as may be required.
  • To prepare for and participate in managing issues as required (including reactive media management).
  • To act as communications consultant on business continuity plans and to actively participate in preparing and adapting Crisis Communications Plans as necessary.
  • To coordinate and manage communication on Key business / affiliate initiatives To coordinate relationship with key external stakeholders involved in the partnership implementation.
  • To act as a consultant to Product Managers, Medical Managers, Market Access Managers or other relevant colleagues on their strategic communications plans for key products and portfolios and to ensure that all planned activities are aligned with Corporate Communications Strategy.
  • To act as a reviewer of brand / disease area communications content and ensure that it is compliant and aligned with corporate communications strategy.
  • Oversight of all press releases and ensures timely dissemination to media (where appropriate) for in line and pipeline products.
  • To ensure that communications activities are carried out to the highest ethical standards and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, industry codes and internal policies and procedures.
  • To ensure accurate forecasting and budgeting for communications activities.
  • To support brand teams using agencies for their activities, and to ensure they are working in compliance with internal policies.

  • You also have

  • Qualification in Communications / PR or equivalent discipline is essential.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a communications role, or in a role dealing with communication in the healthcare industry.
  • Understanding of the healthcare environment, in particular areas related to Roche, with a broad understanding of industry regulations, an advantage.
  • Proven understanding of internal communications techniques and best practices.
  • Experience of and a good understanding of change management principles and methodologies an advantage.
  • Ability to apply strong writing and editing skills to communications for a variety of media and channels.
  • Excellent organizations, project management skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently, and under pressure, with limited supervision.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Excellent communicator with proven ability to develop and deliver effective presentations.
