As a Knowledge Business Director (KBD) within BCG's Global Advantage Practice Area, you will lead the Practice Area’s knowledge business by developing and driving the strategy and execution of the portfolio of knowledge assets and services.

Alongside setting the direction for the Practice Area’s Knowledge agenda, you will also be responsible and accountable for the Practice Area’s Knowledge Team and its performance, including economics (client billability, P&L), customer satisfaction, and team satisfaction KPIs.

As part of this, you will be the global leader of the team; you will inspire and motivate the entire team, as well as line manage and mentor a team of senior Knowledge Team members who collectively manage the practice’s KT.

You also will be responsible for aligning the PA’s knowledge business and strategy with our clients’ needs and encourage the innovation of new and expanded knowledge offerings.

In doing this, you will team with the senior leadership of the practice including topic / sector and regional leaders. In addition, you will contribute on a regular basis to global, cross-practice initiatives and programs.

This role will manage 5 knowledge teams covering each of Global Advantage’s 5 topic businesses :

  • Center for Customer Insights in Emerging Markets
  • Go-to-Market in Emerging Markets
  • Joint-Ventures, Alliances & Digital Ecosystems
  • Geopolitics & Trade
  • Economic Advantage of Nations (e.g. Foreign Direct Investment, Economic Clusters)

    Strategizing with a pioneering, forward-thinking and entrepreneurial approach

    Quickly grasping and engaging on relevant content to identify hot topics and major trends

    Balancing authority with gravitas and managing senior stakeholders as well as a large team

    Understanding the bigger picture with an end to end vision in an intellectually rigorous environment

    Leading and developing a global team in a complex, matrixed organization

    Leading from the front with a strong business focus

    Being results-oriented with a proven track record of implementation and project management success

    Showcasing a positive, constructive, team player mentality


    8+ years of consulting experience required; candidates with consulting experience preferred

    In lieu of consulting experience; 15+ years of industry experience required

    Bachelor’s Degree required, (advanced degree preferred)

    5+ years of line management experience preferred

    Ideally experience in managing a P&L

    Experience with Global Advantage topics preferred

    International experience preferred


    As a Knowledge Business Director, you will work closely with the Global Practice Management Director and Practice Area Leader and be an integral part of the Practice Area Leadership Team.

    You will also work with the leader of global PA KT as part of the Practice Global KT Leadership Team.


    The Knowledge Team (KT) is a group of functional and / or industry experts leveraging deep domain knowledge to enable insight for case teams and clients.

    KT members are affiliated to BCG Practice Areas, plugged into the strategic agenda and building and deploying leading edge IP data tools / assets to deliver insight.

    BCG's Knowledge Team members have the opportunity to be staffed on cases and help co-create insights with case teams and clients through expert perspectives on industry trends, delivery of proprietary data or tools in a particular function and complex research and analysis of market information.

    KT members also support the PA’s business development and proposals and help to organize and codify the knowledge that enables BCG to deliver superior business value for its clients.
