Job summary

The Scrum Master serves as facilitator for agile teams working under the scrum methodology. He is the point person responsible for understanding the big development picture of each sprint.

He bridges the needs of product management, sales, marketing, operations, and product development. The scrum master works closely with the product owner to translate epics, stories, and other items on the sprint list into actionable tasks for developers.

Scrum masters assign and delegate tasks appropriately, ensuring the team’s work aligns with priorities and the overall schedule and ensuring the team is fully deployed.

Main responsibilities

Lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices

Helping the product owner and development team to achieve customer satisfaction

Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization

Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments

Help the scrum and development teams to identify and fill in blanks in the Agile framework

Resolve conflicts and issues that occur

Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity

Support the product owner and provide education where needed

Competencies & professional background

Educational Background :

Engineer degree or Master Degree in Computer Science with a scrum master certification

Technical Skills : (knowledge, experiences, IT tools / software, languages)

At least 5 years of experience working on a scrum team

Excellent knowledge with Business Intelligence project methodologies and architecture (Kimball, Inmon)

Prior experience on a scrum team

Ability to analyze and think quickly and to resolve conflict

Knowledgeable in techniques to fill in gaps in the scrum

Ability to determine what is scrum and what is not

Experience with successful Agile techniques

Soft Skills :

Ability to work with and lead a team

Strong communication, interpersonal and mentoring skills

Ability to adapt to a changing environment

Self-motivation and ability to stay focused in the middle of distraction
