Job Purpose :

Work on relationships within the Banking portfolio in Morocco. This portfolio ranges from investment to non-investment grade credits with a specific focus on names that are expanding in Africa.

Assist Senior Bankers based in Morocco in business origination across Citi’s product set and global network, with particular focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions.

The role also includes assisting clients in their day-to-day operations of flow related business.

Provide financial analysis, risk assessment and analytical support for some of the key Corporate Bank relationships.

Support Banking Relationship Team and ICG product partners with specific responsibility for providing analytical support, risk assessment and monitoring of existing and new relationships in the Banking portfolio.

Job Background / context :

The Corporate and Investment Banking business provides financial advisory services on a wide range of strategic transactions (including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and re-

structuring) and capital-raising projects and debt financing projects, for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments worldwide.

Our bankers work closely with our other business units to ensure client access to the full range of products and expertise within the organisation.

The position sits within the Corporate Banking team in Morocco. The Banker will support the client business in Morocco, in Africa and globally.

The role involves a significant amount of client contact both face-to-face and by phone.

The team has credit and analytical responsibility for a large number of Moroccan-based national, regional and global companies.

The Associate will be exposed to multiple sub-sectors and multiple relationship teams throughout Citi global network. He / she will also work very closely with our Investment Banking colleagues on acquisition financing related opportunities.

Key Responsibilities :

Member of deal team for the origination and execution of episodic and Corporate Finance transactions involving clients based in Morocco.

  • Provide top notch complex credit and capital structure analysis both for internal and marketing purposes (financial modelling as well as credit and returns analysis)
  • Produce best in class presentations to support the marketing effort
  • Coordinate the contribution of different partners within the firm (Investment Banking, CMO, risk and local teams)
  • Lead the related internal approval processes
  • Assist in managing the Corporate Banking relationships for clients in Morocco.

  • Develop relationship with the clients’ head office teams as well as with key subsidiaries.
  • Engage daily with clients to deliver Citi’s full product set (flow and episodic) across the globe.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the developments in the core product set to explore and refer opportunities.
  • Maintain regular and frequent dialogue with product partners to deliver against the client agenda.
  • Interact with Citi’s network around the globe to ensure activities and origination work streams are co-ordinated across the franchise.
  • Client Management including assisting in developing appropriate credit strategies and attending client meetings and presentations as appropriate in managing day to day relations.
  • Support Banking Relationship Team and ICG product partners for clients based in Morocco :

  • Oversee credit analysis activities for a specified client set (transaction and periodic credit reviews).
  • Risk assessment and credit analysis of existing relationships including periodic review of financial results and statements to monitor operating performance, liquidity position and financial condition, peer analysis, identifying industry trends and outlook and preparation of financial projections and sensitivity analysis.
  • The associate will develop (i) in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the business, (ii) an understanding of clients’ priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate marketing opportunities and (iii) strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners.

  • Qualifications

  • Banking background gained from a reputable firm where you will have gained first class training and development as a banker.
  • Educated to degree level with a minimum grade of 2 : 1 (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge / Experience :

  • Prior experience in Corporate and Investment Banking.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of a broad spectrum of products and how they meet client needs.
  • Experience with various clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities.
  • Credit trained, used to taking a lead role in establishing the creditworthiness of counterparties.
  • Experienced at client planning and coordinating input from multiple product areas.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting and Corporate Finance
  • Advanced Financial Modelling experience.
  • Skills :

  • Analytical - assimilating new information quickly and relating it to the needs of the client base.
  • Organizational Managing demands from several sources and working to deadlines.
  • Proactivity, identifying situations that could result in new business and developing recommendations tailored to the client.
  • People skills building a rapport with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Verbal and Written Communication - Attention to detail and assuming responsibility over time for client contact.
  • Quantitative and Financial Modelling skills
  • Arabic language skills are an advantage for this role

  • Credit analytics and Financial Modeling experience.
  • Excellent computer skills especially Excel.
