Position Details

Position Information Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Position Title Assistant Director, Global Education Program Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Biddeford, ME Description The Office of Global Affairs at the University of New England (UNE ), which oversees all UNE’s global educational and cultural activities, is seeking an Assistant Director for its growing and dynamic Global Education Program.

Immediate supervision is received from the Director of the Global Education Program with final oversight by the Vice President of Global Affairs. Responsibilities

  • Collaborating on University-wide global initiatives.
  • Increasing participation in study abroad on UNE semester abroad programs and travel courses, with a particular focus on enrollment and programming at the Tangier Campus.
  • Supporting prospective and enrolled study abroad students, including issues related to student health, safety, and crisis management.
  • Assisting the Director in all study abroad recruitment efforts including Admissions events, the development / updating of website and print promotional and informational materials, and managing events and classroom visits.
  • Day-to-day management of the Global Education Program office and its programs, including answering the phone, assisting student walk-ins, and replying to emails.
  • Day-to-day management of the Global desk in the Commons.
  • Supervision of student work-study employees (Peer Advisers).
  • Liaising with the Go Global Living Learning Community, First-Year Experience Program Coordinator and Resident Advisers (RAs) on programming.
  • Working with faculty on budgetary and logistical planning, recruitment, and management of faculty-led travel courses.
  • Reviewing Global Education Scholarship applications.
  • Managing student visa applications for Spain, France and Iceland and others as needed.
  • Assist with managing website, print materials, and Terra Dotta updates and workflow.
  • Managing Global Education Program social media accounts and external listing sites.
  • Functioning as a DSO in SEVIS , including creating / maintaining international student records, having regular communication with incoming / current international students, and assisting with post-completion OPT applications.
  • Please note that F-1 regulations require that a Designated School Official must document that they are a US citizen or permanent resident.

  • Managing the Global Education program office when the Director is away.
  • Other duties as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least six years of related experience with increasing responsibility in planning, organizing, and evaluating study abroad programs, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Significant living or travel experience abroad and a passion for global education.
  • Strong written, oral communication and oral presentation skills.
  • Experience developing and deploying marketing and recruitment strategies related to international education, including demonstrated experience with social media.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and an unwavering can-do attitude.
  • Knowledge of SEVIS and student immigration regulations desirable.
  • Proficiency in French, Arabic or Spanish desirable.
  • Experience with Terra Dotta software desirable.
  • Work on some evenings and weekends required.
  • Occasional regional, national, and international travel is also required. This would require booster doses for individuals who received the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna primary series 5 months or more earlier, or who received a J&J / Janssen single-dose vaccine 2 months or more earlier.

    The University allows for religious and medical exemptions to the policy. If you believe you are eligible for a medical or religious exemption to the vaccine policy you may seek the exemption through Human Resources after receiving this conditional offer of employment.

    Please note that no person to whom the policy applies will be finally employed or permitted to work if they are not fully vaccinated unless they request an exemption and are granted one.
