MAIN REPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • The PBG Emerging Markets, Medical Director for Morocco / Tunisia & Libya , provides medical leadership to the country & is responsible for developing and executing the Medical Team’s vision and strategy in alignment with the Commercial Lead.
  • The Medical Director is the single point of accountability for medical in the country & works closely cross functionally to support the product portfolio.
  • He / she will report to the AfME Regional Medical Lead and be part of the Regional Medical LT. He / she will be responsible for managing high performing country Medical organization including the Medical Quality function & will ensure that country medical functions systems, processes & activities are fully aligned with local, regional and IMB / EM business priorities, strategies and needs, as well as, in compliance with corporate policies, SOPs & guidelines.

  • He / she also serves as the key country liaison with country / regional / HQ Commercial, Medical, GMPE, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Safety, Corporate Affairs and, Legal functions.
  • The Medical Director provides medical guidance and input to the regulatory, safety and commercial leadership teams in support of key product maintenance & defense activities.
  • He develops strategic partnerships with key clinical and other stakeholders; developing strategies aligned to customer needs in order to maintain a therapeutic leadership position and drive business needs at the country level.

    The lead will also focus on ensuring excellence with respect to medical quality and compliance as well as professional external relations.

  • Provides leadership to all in-country medical functions and is the country senior medical voice both internally and externally (acting as Pfizer CMO in the country environment)
  • Represents Pfizer in industry bodies and associations and helps shape the health care environment by being part / member of Pharma association
  • Represents the company to external bodies, medical associations, societies, academic centers for medical issues
  • Represents Pfizer in high-level interactions with regulatory authorities as required;
  • Development, Implementation and Communication of the PBG Medical Affairs Strategies ;
  • Drives country medical plans on scientifically sound principles that will bring benefits to the patients, working in close collaboration with the Regional Teams and in accordance with the overall brand and portfolio strategy;
  • Allocates financial and FTE resources to each brand / therapeutic area as per the operating plan provisions;
  • Implements medical strategies according to the medical plans, across the PBG categories, with emphasis on the data generating and the data communication activities;
  • Aligns in-country approval, implementation of product-specific non-routine risk minimization measures
  • Provides scientific input to the Market Access strategies and tactics in Morocco
  • Communicates the value of the MA function to internal stakeholders (championing cross functional working, and working with the Regional Medical Teams and Country Manager);
  • Communicates the value of the Medical Affairs function to external stakeholders, aligning with customer needs, enhancing reputation and bringing medical insights into the organization.
  • Build Organizational Capability and Management of People;
  • Leads, motivates and enhances the performance of the in-country PBG Medical Affairs Team through coaching and by direct example;
  • Supports talent management within the medical functions, ensuring that Pfizer colleagues within the Medical Teams and partner lines management are aware of opportunities .

  • Solid line reports : in-country PBG Medical Affairs Team, in-country / Cluster Medical Quality & Oversight function (MQOL);
  • Budget responsibility for the in-country PBG medical affairs organization and of MQOM function

  • Experience working in other regions and knowledge of regulatory requirements a plus
  • Previous experience in a regional or country role with cross functional and cross country responsibilities is an advantage
  • Understand pharmaceutical business, and willing to take medical leadership and partner with commercial colleagues to drive business
  • Proven ability to influence and succeed through others and to form excellent relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, and proven track record of delivering high quality within timelines.
  • Education;
  • Medical Doctor with solid education and experience;
  • At a minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, especially Medical Affairs and / or Clinical Research;
  • Comprehensive understanding of the international health environment and deep understanding of the country health environment including its structure, policy, key members and scientific societies;
  • Profound knowledge of relevant international Codes of Practice, guidelines and regulations as well as applicable Pfizer SOPs;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacovigilance and regulatory legislation and the drug development process and how these aspects impact the product portfolio;
  • Line management experience and general business management experience.
