We are looking to recruit a high calibre and experienced Lead Digital Engineer to join the LOR Digital team. You will support the development, implementation and deployment of Laing O'Rourke's digital engineering systems with a focus on helping our digital transformation.

Responsibilities focus on supporting our digital team in the successful implementation of key digital initiatives for the business which include new and advanced methods of using data, 3D modelling and visualisation for design, manufacturing and construction.

You will work closely with partners from the business and other members of the team such as a product owner and project leads, to develop, test and deploy new systems that will facilitate machine readable and interoperable structured data.

You will be expected to evaluate new process and technology using KPIs to determine which is best suited to LOR's application.

Your work will be heavily weighted to developing Data Templates (DTs) and exploring their use across the business in several functions.

The role will require collaboration with IT, Digital, wider business stakeholders and technology partners to create the best possible solution.

Key responsibilities :

  • Deliver and support the development of Data Templates for a variety of construction objects.
  • Work with selected technology partners to evaluate their software offering and provide detailed analysis on maturity, functionality and suitability for LOR.
  • Collaborate with LOR's key internal stakeholders (Design, Ops, manufacturing etc.) to understand and rationalise data requirements and capture within data templates.
  • Collaborate with LOR's key external stakeholders (design and supply chain partners) to understand and rationalise data requirements and capture within data templates.
  • Provide worked examples of data templates supporting interconnected internal business systems e.g. facilitating time / cost calculated directly from a BIM model.
  • Provide worked examples of data templates supporting interconnected external business systems e.g. improving digital information exchange with our partners to improve our design centre or estimating and procurement systems.
  • Uphold and act in accordance with LOR key values and principles.
  • A good understanding of data schemas such as IFC or COBie and their use within construction objects will be essential to the role.

    You will also need excellent communication and teamwork skills and have knowledge of the design, manufacturing and construction process.

    The role will also entail supporting the development of other digital tools and knowledge of applications such as Autodesk Revit and Dynamo, and Microsoft Excel and SQL would be preferable but not essential.

    Qualifications and training :

  • Degree in Engineering or similar
  • Revit / Dynamo / BIM 360
