As a purchasing manager, you'll need to :
Ensure effective, efficient and ethical / sustainable purchases are carried out to a high standard.
Ensure budgetary control for all products or services.
Ensure that all purchases are processed through the company procurement system at the most competitive price.
Negotiate with suppliers to obtain best buys’ in terms of quality, price, terms and conditions respecting as much as possible the company’s financial year schedule.
Review existing contracts and advise accordingly.
Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers, the business community.
Assist and advise Executive Committee members and Head of Departments in regards to purchasing issues.
Administer new and existing contracts.
Maintain accurate files with updated contracts listing on a monthly basis.
Liaise with Head Chef and Food & Beverage departments on food and beverage quality control.
Represent and abide by all Health and Safety regulation, and follow up on any issues accordingly.
Regularly review high cost items, continually re-source products.
Increase cost effectiveness by researching new products and reporting detailed results to the management.
Pro-actively explore new solutions to enhance the company’s standards.
Conduct Monthly Purchasing Meetings
Supervise the day to day activities of the Purchasing team including holiday cover and succession planning.
Maintain and develop product knowledge.Liaise with suppliers concerning the development of products specific to the Hotel’s operation.
Attend all possible networking meetings, buyer’s forums and workshops.
Essential : Degree or equivalent Finance related qualificationStrong experience in a Hotel OperationExcellent Communication SkillsKnowledge in Purchasing and Material Control Systems.
