As a purchasing manager, you'll need to :

  • Ensure effective, efficient and ethical / sustainable purchases are carried out to a high standard.
  • Ensure budgetary control for all products or services.
  • Ensure that all purchases are processed through the company procurement system at the most competitive price.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain best buys’ in terms of quality, price, terms and conditions respecting as much as possible the company’s financial year schedule.
  • Review existing contracts and advise accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with suppliers, the business community.
  • Assist and advise Executive Committee members and Head of Departments in regards to purchasing issues.
  • Administer new and existing contracts.
  • Maintain accurate files with updated contracts listing on a monthly basis.
  • Liaise with Head Chef and Food & Beverage departments on food and beverage quality control.
  • Represent and abide by all Health and Safety regulation, and follow up on any issues accordingly.
  • Regularly review high cost items, continually re-source products.
  • Increase cost effectiveness by researching new products and reporting detailed results to the management.
  • Pro-actively explore new solutions to enhance the company’s standards.
  • Conduct Monthly Purchasing Meetings
  • Supervise the day to day activities of the Purchasing team including holiday cover and succession planning.
  • Maintain and develop product knowledge.Liaise with suppliers concerning the development of products specific to the Hotel’s operation.
  • Attend all possible networking meetings, buyer’s forums and workshops.
  • Qualifications :

    Essential : Degree or equivalent Finance related qualificationStrong experience in a Hotel OperationExcellent Communication SkillsKnowledge in Purchasing and Material Control Systems.
