Position Information Position Type Professional Staff Faculty Track Position Title Assistant Director, Public Health Integrated Learning Experience (ILE) Employment Status Full Time Months 12 Campus Portland, ME Description To support the implementation of the public health graduate programs by managing and directing all aspects of the Integrative Learning Experience (ILE ), (Master’s thesis project) the culminating project demonstrating public health competencies mastered during the MPH program. Responsibilities

  • Supervise the preparation of students for their ILE research and writing project :
  • Provide guidance to ILE instructors working with advisees as they prepare for their ILE planning course and the ILE Project course
  • Oversee the courses in each of 3 ILE areas : Policy Analysis, Research Methods and Program Evaluation
  • Oversee and facilitate student preparation and progress in the learning management system (LMS ) as students prepare for their ILE Advanced Elective
  • Provide approval for students to enroll in the ILE Project Course
  • Manage IRB applications
  • Oversee submission of students completed IRB documents for students ILE projects.
  • Teach ILE courses in an area of expertise : either Research Methods, Policy Analysis or Program Evaluation and mentor student projects in the track.
  • Work with ILE instructors to guide student ILE projects and presentations.
  • Collaborate with ILE instructors and the Program Director to review ILE courses at the end of each session and identify curricular improvements.
  • Develop and update ILE related communications, collateral, and web content.
  • Maintain a database of all students’ final written products for accreditation purposes.
  • Create reports documenting the quality of ILE products and provide recommendations for continual improvement.
  • Assist the Program Director in maintaining Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH ) accreditation
  • Assist with GPPH Curriculum Development
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
  • An MPH or related master’s degree; prefer PhD or DrPH or related doctoral degree in a public health related field plus three years’ experience teaching and mentoring students.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to mentor student writing.
  • Three years of public health related experience (practice, research, teaching or combination thereof).
  • Experience in an online learning environment
  • Knowledge and commitment to health equity, social determinants of health and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of higher education organizational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with wide variety of personnel including faculty, students, other departments, and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work independently with a high degree of attention to details and effectively as part of a team. Highly organized.
