Job Description :

As General Legal Counsel North Africa, based in Casablanca, you will be responsible for providing legal advice on all matters relating to 3M’s operations in North Africa.

You will report into the Regional General Counsel - MENA who is based in Dubai, but will also have a strong dotted line of reporting into the Managing Director for the 3M North Africa entity.

Your daily responsibilities will be varied and will include matters ranging from negotiating and advising on distribution / supply agreements, to corporate structuring, training, employment law, governance and compliance / risk related issues.

Outlined below are some of the key responsibilities :

  • To advise, negotiate and draft a variety of commercial contracts and support senior level and key stakeholders within the business.
  • Such matters will include (non-exhaustively), supply, procurement and distribution agreements, master services agreements, procurement contracts and licensing.

  • To take a solution oriented and collaborative approach to advising the senior management teams on conflicts and strategic initiatives.
  • To implement and enhance existing policies surrounding corporate governance, internal SOPs and compliance.
  • Provide legal advice when required on matters relating to HR, Corporate, IP, Litigation and Finance.
  • Play a supportive / advisory role with respect to handling legal and business conduct violations and investigations.
  • Interact with outside vendors and / or counsel to assist in the design of policies, procedures and processes.
  • Work closely with regional and international colleagues to implement any international projects or SOPs.
  • Key Candidate Attributes / Skills :

  • Will be qualified as a lawyer in Morocco, with at least 4 years post qualification exposure.
  • Will have worked at highly regarded international law firms and then ideally have moved In-House to a well-respected and large international business.
  • Must have extensive exposure to advising on, drafting and negotiating domestic and international commercial agreements.
  • Will have extensive exposure as a key strategic advisor to board level members and senior / high profile stakeholders both externally and internally on a daily basis.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal / business partnering skills coupled with a commercial and solutions orientated approach.
  • Will be fluent in English, French and Arabic.
  • Whilst candidates with exposure to working in the technology industry or a related sector would be preferred, we are open to other sector exposure and will also consider candidate looking to make their first move from Private Practice.
